Men's slopitch quickly winding down

Playoffs producing some tight battles as competition heats up

One more week to go and Comox Valley Men's Slopitch will be over – barring any weather issues.

The men were split into two divisions of five for the playoffs and only three teams remain. In Tier 1 play, league champs Madman Mckay Jays over came a 10-3 deficit to defeat the West Coast Grinders 16-15.

Solo La Puntita gave up six runs in the first two innings but fought back, scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 15-9 win over Seeco Slammers.

The next night saw Watson & Ash Grabbers knock the Slammers out of the playoffs but were then beaten 11-5 by the Grinders to knock themselves out.  The Grinders will now face the loser of the Puntita vs. Jays game.

In Tier 2, the Coco Loco’s took down the Misfits while the Griffin Ball Busters outlasted Smokin’ Woody’s 13-11. The Loco’s were then beaten 15-5 by the Steamers, sending them to the B side.

Woody’s then beat up on the Misfits 17-6, sending them home, and edged the Coco Loco’s 7-5 to finish the Loco’s season.

The Woody’s will play the loser of the Griffin vs. Steamers game.
