The Comox Valley field hockey league club is very excited about the upcoming player skills clinic they have organized for their members on Sunday, April 17. The reason: Ali Lee, a Canadian national field hockey player, will be the clinician for the day.
Lee is a Victoria native and is currently a student at the University of Victoria, completing her degree in Biochemistry. She has been a member of the National field hockey program since 2004 and is currently a member of the senior national team. She will have just returned from a tour to Chile with the national team before running the Comox Valley clinic.
Each year the Comox Valley field hockey league (www.cvfhl.ca ) holds a player skills clinic and they have had some tremendous clinicians, but this is the first time the club has had a current national team member take the time out of their busy schedule to run a clinic
“We are very fortunate to get a player who is currently playing with the national team to come and show our kids how to play this great game,” said Moira Ashlee, the club’s U14 coach. "Her experience and knowledge will be such an inspiration for our players (and coaches). Not only is she a great field hockey player, but she is also an excellent student at the University of Victoria. What a great example for our young student athletes.”
The club is hoping that all of their players take advantage of this great opportunity to learn some new skills and meet one of Canada’s premier athletes. The clinic will be held at Queneesh Elementary school fields from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for all U14s and players born in 1996 and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for all U18s and players born in 1995.
