THE MID ISLAND BLAZERS enjoyed another successful Men's AA hockey campaign.

Another Mid Island Blazers Men's AA hockey season is in the books.

The Blazers played their last game of the year last Saturday night in Powell River. Even though they came out of it with a 7-3 loss, assistant captain Curtus Larson wasn’t disappointed. “We went with 10 players and were head-to-head with the Regals until the middle of the second period. It’s unfortunate that it got away from us, but I’m happy with the way the team played."

The only real setback of the game was the loss of forward Jordan Butcher, who injured his shoulder going into the boards. "Thankfully he will only be out of commission for a couple of weeks," a team spokesperson said.

Overall, the Blazers have had a successful season. In addition to finishing in third place, to date eight of the Blazers finished in the top 20 in the points race for the league. "The team’s biggest accomplishment this season however was that we created more community awareness of the team itself." the spokesperson said.

"It’s amazing how many people weren’t aware that the Blazers or Men’s AA League existed. Thanks to our sponsors, team organizers, and the team itself, we’ve managed to put the building blocks into place that will pave the way for an even better 2011-2012 season."

The Blazers acknowledge and thank the following sponsors for their support and for helping to make this season a success: Brian McLean Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd., Chances Casino, Powerhouse Auto Recyclers, Mission Possible, Crown Isle, Tufts Fresh Gear, Classic Printers, Insurance Centre, Reliable Auto Body Ltd., End of the Roll, Investor’s Group, Connect Hearing, ABC Printing & Signs, Staples Business Depot, Lorne Hotel, Black Fin Pub, Happy’s Source For Sports, Comox Fire Department, Sports Mart, Hartman’s Auto Supply, Van Houtte Coffee Suppliers, Comox Valley Record, Comox Valley Echo, Comox Valley Sports Centre and 98.9 JetFM radio station.
