Sanders cruises to Sunnydale Ladies Club championship

Winner was 11 strokes clear of the field

The 36-hole Sunnydale Ladies Club Championship concluded Aug. 25, with Holly Sanders cruising to an 11-stroke victory, with a two-round total of 162.

Carolyn Walker had the second low gross score of 173. Pat Peden fired a 177 for third overall. Joan Rallison (184), Lois Westbrook (196) and Mandy Johns (198) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Crystal Friesen took home the low net championship, with a two-round net score of 147, two better than runner-up Teri Sleigh. Laurie Appleyward (150) edged Barry Anne Bury for third low net score on a countback. Kathie Reid won a countback against Karen Scott for fifth low net, after both ladies posted 152.

Birdies, sponsored by Rob Speers in the Sunnydale pro shop were made by Sanders, Friesen, Walker, Peden, Appleyard, Judy Berkeley, Rona Lawson, Bev Slater and Linda Broadbent.

The weather turned out great, and the course is in excellent condition. Everything went well thanks to our tournament chairperson Betty Lund.
