AMELIA ELDER (WITH coach Albert Burgund) won gold in the 200 free event.

Three Comox Valley Aquatic Club Sharks competed at the Swim BC AA Championships in Victoria last weekend.

Natasha D'Aoust, Amelia Elder and Emma Neufeld posted impressive results, coach Albert Burgund said.

"Natasha made best times and finals in three events. Amelia, who tried so hard to qualify for the provincial AAA championships, went 100 per cent best times and earned gold in the 200 free, silver in the 100 free, and bronze in both the 50 free and the 400 free.

"It was so impressive," commented Burgund. "Amelia swam away from the pack and picked up the pace for the win but the AAA QT she missed by mere tenths."

Senior swimmer Neufeld captured gold in the 100, silver in the 50 free and bronze in the 200 Individual Medley – all in best times. "To come with such a small group and still swim away with so many ribbons and medals is just great – a fitting reward for a job well done!" beamed the coach.

The Sharks thank all of their supporters in the Comox Valley. Stay tuned for more swimming results as the team fields swimmers at the provincial championships as well as the Canadian Age Group National Championships in July.
