Sharpe, O’Brien both finish 10th in Olympic big air test event

Two Comox Valley slopestyle competitors posted 10th place finishes at an official Olympic big air test event, Nov. 26 in Alpensia, Korea.

For the Canadian men’s team, Darcy Sharpe of Comox took 10th while for the women’s team Spencer O’Brien of Courtenay was 10th.

Alpensia ski stadium is the site of snowboarding big air and ski jumping for the 2018 Winter Olympic games in PyeongChang.

“As the first official Olympic test event of the season, this World Cup was an important preparation step for riders and organizers alike,” Canada Snowboard notes.

South Korea will also host Olympic test events in halfpipe and alpine snowboarding later this season, with many Canadians expected to attend.
