Courtenay’s Abigail Rigsby, a sophomore at Oklahoma Christian University, shot back-to-back 74s to lead the Lady Eagles golf team to a fifth-place team finish at the UCO RCB Classic in Edmond, Okla.

A news release says Rigsby’s putter “kept her afloat in the opening round” Monday with three birdies en route to a three-over-par round of 74 at The Golf Club of Edmond.

She duplicated the feat in the second round Tuesday, placing eighth overall with a two-day total of 148. The leader shot 139.

“I was disappointed in my play as an individual but I had two solid putting rounds which was a nice confidence boost,” Rigsby said by email. “As a team we showed a lot of potential for what’s to come in the spring.

“My sophomore year has been going well so far,” she added. “I know what to expect this year and I’m excited for what’s to come.”

The Lady Eagles combined for a team total of 307 the first round and 304 in the second. Their 611 total was just one back of fourth-place Northeastern State.

The host Central Oklahoma won the tournament with a team total of 585.
