Tap That Pass attempt to catch flag football title

After seven games of squeaking out tight victories and surviving big peaks and valleys in performance, Tap That Pass looked like a juggernaut in their semifinal playoff game Tuesday at the Mark Isfeld School fields.

The local co-ed flag football team marched the ball up and down the field on offence and played shutdown defence to defeat the Dirty Bandits and advance to the final of the Comox Valley Sports & Social Club league. Now they'll certainly have to hope that all of their late-season meshing holds over as they'll face the undefeated Young and Old (7-0), led by quarterback and four-time league champ Troy Donaldson.

Tap That Pass (6-1) will depend on the solid quarterbacking skills of Chris Austin to hit his bevvy of offensive playmakers, while the defence will have its hands full with the accurate arm and instinctive play-calling of Donaldson. While Young and Old won the only meeting in the regular season, Tap That Pass did knock their opponent down a peg in an exhibition game before the season started.

The Smokin' Aces (2-4-1) will face the Dirty Bandits (3-4) for third place. Meanwhile, the Tight Ends (3-4), Spring Flingers (1-4-1), and Big Sack (1-5) are battling for spots fifth through seventh.

Registration is currently open until Monday for the summer flag football league, as well as leagues in beach volleyball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, slo-pitch and kickball. More info can be found online at www.comoxvalleysports.ca or by contacting Scott at 250-898-7286.
