Taylor Green in Tacoma with Nashville Sounds next week

Baseball fans with some time on their hands might want to cruise down the coast next week and catch Taylor Green in Pacific Coast League action with the Nashville Sounds.

The Sounds, the AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, play a four-game series with the Tacoma Rainiers, the AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, with games Monday (7 p.m.), Tuesday (10:30 a.m.), Wednesday (7 p.m.) and Thursday (7 p.m.).

All the action is at Cheney Stadium, near the intersection of Tyler and 19th street in Tacoma just off of Highway 16. From Interstate 5, take exit 132 (Highway 16) west. Take the 19th Street exit going east. Once on 19th, turn right on Cheyenne which is the first street sign you see. This takes you directly to the parking lot.

The 24-year-old Green made headlines this week when he belted a go-ahead, three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to power the Sounds to an 11-10 victory over the visiting Sacramento River Cats in front of 7,975 screaming kids on Tuesday afternoon at Greer Stadium.

The Sounds trailed 10-5 in the sixth. In their half of the seventh, Edwin Maysonet cracked a bases-loaded, two-run single, then Green blasted the first pitch he saw over the centre field wall and off the clubhouse, giving Nashville the 11-10 lead. The three-run dinger was Green's fourth of the year and first since April 17.

After an off day on Wednesday, the Sounds travelled west to begin an eight-game road trip with the Salt Lake Bees (AAA-Angels) and Rainiers of the Pacific Conference Northern Division, the teams' only meetings this season.

Nashville is fourth in the American North division with a 14-24 record and 8.5 games out of first place. Green is batting .240 with four homers and 17 RBI in his first season of AAA ball. The 5',11", 200-pound infielder is in his sixth professional season, all with the Brewers' organization. Milwaukee selected the Comox minor baseball product in the 25th round of the 2005 MLB June Amateur Draft.

He was rated as the Southern League’s 16th-best prospect following the 2009 season, participated in the Arizona Fall League in 2008 and 2009, was the 2007 Brewers Minor League Player of the Year and a 2007 South Atlantic League All-Star.
