Three Valley schools advance to North Islands

Vanier Secondary hosted the junior girls basketball zone playdowns Wednesday and Thursday.

The top four finishers — Vanier, Alberni District Secondary (ADSS), Highland and Iseld — have advanced to the North Island championships next week in Alberni. The tourney runs Thursday to Saturday.

ADSS, undefeated heading into zones, suffered its first loss against north zone teams. The three Comox Valley schools each had a 5-2 win-loss record.

Belmont Secondary (Langford) hosts the junior girls Island championships Feb. 15-16.
