Towhees open B.C. rugby championships with 34-10 win

Vanier girls advance to Friday semifinals with 3 p.m. game against Gleneagle

The G.P. Vanier Towhees are off to a strong start at the 2014 B.C. High School Girls Rugby Association championships in Port Alberni.

The #1 AAA ranked Towhees knocked off #8 Clayton Heights Nightriders of Surrey 34-10 Thursday afternoon. The win advances the Towhees to Friday's semifinals, where they will meet #4 Gleneagle Talons of Coquitlam at 3 p.m. Gleneagle beat #5 Norkam 12-7 in overtime on Thursday.

The championship final is set for Saturday afternoon.
