Triple-A North Island basketball tourney delayed a day

Due to snow on roads, the triple-A senior boys North Island Basketball Tournament will start this evening (Friday) at Isfeld Secondary, one day later than originally scheduled.

Due to snow on roads, the triple-A senior boys North Island Basketball Tournament will start this evening (Friday) at Isfeld Secondary, one day later than originally scheduled.

Ballenas and Barsby square off in the first game at 5:30 p.m. Carrie and Wellington play at 7:15 p.m.

On Saturday, Vanier plays the winner of game one at 2 p.m. The host Isfeld Ice will face the winner of Friday’s second game at 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

The final is 2 p.m. Sunday.

The top four teams advance to the Island Championship, Feb. 21-23 at Barsby Secondary in Nanaimo.

For the first time, coaches have selected an all-conference first and second team for the North Island. Thaskani Mtawali and Aidan McDonald of Isfeld are on the first team, as are Peter Greaves and Jakob Tortorelli of Vanier. Temwa Mtawali of Isfeld is a second-team selection.
