TYLER VAN ANROOY missed the cut at this year's Canadian Men's Amateur Championship in Winnipeg.

Seven was not a lucky number for Tyler Van Anrooy at the 2014 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.

The Courtenay golfer posted identical rounds of 77 on Aug. 4 and Aug. 5 for a 12-over 154 and missed the cut. The 110th tourney was played Aug. 4-7 at the Elmhurst and Southwood golf and country clubs in Winnipeg, Man.

The 23-year-old Van Anrooy was part of a 240-player field that included top male amateur golfers from Canada, Australia, Colombia, New Zealand and the United States.

After the first two rounds (Aug. 4-5) the field was reduced to the low 70 players and ties for the final 36 holes of the championship, which finished Aug. 7 at Elmhurst.

Van Anrooy placed 27th in the B.C. Men's Amateur at the Seymour Golf Club in North Vancouver in July.
