Round two of the 2014 Ski Town Throwdown is on today (Nov. 7), and Vancouver Islanders are once again urged to cast their vote for Mount Washington Alpine Resort.

"We're up against the pride of Juneau, Alaska....Eaglecrest Ski Area. It's Canada vs.

USA, Island vs. Alaska!" notes Mount Washington spokesperson Brent Curtain. "The winner of this round moves on to face Red Mountain of Rossland, B.C. Rossland was last year's winner so it would be nice to meet them head to head in the sweet 16  round," Curtain added.

Voting is open for 24 hours only today on Powder Magazine's Facebook page. Vote at http://bit.ly/19282JR. Voting closes at midnight tonight. It's been a see-saw battle all day long. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Mount Washington had retaken the lead from Eaglecrest with the tally standing at 1,656 for the Island resort and 1,633 for the Alaska hill.

In round one, Mount Washington defeated Kicking Horse by 476 votes on Oct. 29 while Eaglecrest upset heavily-favoured Whistler/Blackcomb by 600 votes, so a good turnout of voters will be needed today to help Mount Washington continue on in the competition.

"If you've already voted today, a huge thank you. With your help, we should be able to give Alaska a run for their money," said Curtain.

"Eaglecrest successfully knocked Whistler/Blackcomb out of Round 1 so they're no slouch. Another win will help put the Vancouver Island snow community on the map!

"The deeper we go into the tournament, the more international exposure for Vancouver Island," Curtain said.
