Island Spirit Sports two youngest teams had a great showing at the “For the Love of It” cheerleading competition in Port Moody on March 12.

The Comox-based cheerleading teams finished seco (youth) and third (junior) at their most recent competition, a reversal of the previous week’s results, when they finished third and second, respectively.

Again, both teams completed deduction-free routines and earned their highest scores to date for their tumbling skills.

“Athletes on both of these teams have been determined to add new tumbling skills all season, and the results of their hard work are now showing up on the score sheets,” said head coach Mia Heitland.

“All of the athletes in our program are looking forward to continuing to develop their tumbling skills as our program moves to the Comox Community Centre this spring. With the benefit of tumbling classes run by Chimo gymnastics, our athletes will strive to learn even more.”

Island Spirit Sports’ practices will move to the Community Centre in April, after the club’s final competition of the season.

April also sees the start of Spring Session classes for new athletes wanting to learn about All Star Cheerleading. More information is available on the club’s website at www.IslandSpiritSports.com or by calling 250-703-1194.
