Beau Simpson

As an editor who started his career in 2000 with the Nanaimo Daily News, I am finding there is still much to learn about community journalism, especially in our digital age.
But even after all these years, I am still in awe at the impact our work can have on the community, whether it be affecting change, sparking debate or inspiring readers to lead better lives.
In the past few years, I am grateful to have been recognized with awards for sports writing, column writing, news writing, headline writing and feature writing.
Outside of the newsroom, baseball takes over. When I'm not watching the Yankees with my family, I squat behind the dish for the Richmond Red Sox, a men's hardball team in the Lower Mainland Baseball Association, and have coached minor ball in Cloverdale and North Langley for eight years.
I live in Cloverdale with my beautiful wife, two amazing kids and two spunky mini-dachshunds.
