Coast Range Cannabis in Comox is preparing for the first wave of cannabis 2.0 products to hit the outlet’s shelves as early as Christmas Eve.

The new legal cannabis products will include edibles. These edible products will consist of infused gummies, hand-painted chocolates, soft cookies, infused teas, and sparkling beverages, to name a few.

Arriving along with the edibles will be inhaled extracts, which are concentrated cannabis extracts meant to be “dabbed” or used in a vaporizer or vape pen. These will include shatter, budder, wax, and rosin.

“It looks like we will be accepting the delivery as early as Christmas Eve,” said Sheila Rivers, owner of Coast Range Cannabis. “It’s our Christmas wish this year that the holiday delivery schedule won’t be interrupted by inclement weather, and we can get these products on our shelves in time for those last-minute Christmas shoppers on the 24th.”

Rivers added there has been an expressed interest from her clientele ever since Coast Range Cannabis opened.

“There is a huge interest in the Comox Valley for 2.0, particularly the edibles,” she said. “Since we opened our doors in October, we’ve had people coming in daily asking when we will be carrying edibles.”

In total, federally licensed Canadian producers are releasing over 250 new cannabis products to private retailers this month.

“I think it is important to state what’s coming for 2.0 does not look like animal-shaped candy,” said Rivers. “The packaging is plain and designed not to appeal to children. As with all cannabis products, edibles should be secured in places that children can’t access.”
