Courtenay’s Tin Town offers Christmas shoppers unique experience

Tin Town business owners are all set for the Christmas season.

Let the wind blow, the snow fall, the rain pour or the sun shine – no matter the weather, Tin Town will open its doors and hearts to the public on Dec. 9 for its annual Christmas Open House, Studio Tour and Sale.

Come dressed for the weather in order to experience the full-on neighbourhood welcome at this popular seasonal event hosted by the Tin Town artists, businesses, and non-profits.

Stroll from studio to café to shop to food truck, meeting and making friends at each venue, sipping and nibbling on offered treats, picking up unique gifts, art cards, specialty foods, collectibles and clothing and entering the many draws for Tin Town’s gifts.

Creativity abounds in Tin Town with artist Helen Utsal’s original paintings, prints and cards, Nancy Morrison’s stained glass art, Roberta Meilleur’s metal and crystal window sculptures, Anne Davies’s watercolour originals, prints and cards, Moss Grey’s natural fibre designed clothing, and hand knitting by Arien Soleil Dawn. Triple Heat Dance will host a mini craft market and there’s always the eclectic collection of art and hand-made treasures at the Tin Town Café.

Shops offer collectibles, floral designs and wood work and non-profits offer an opportunity to support local initiatives. And then there’s foodm Tin Town has pasta and sauces, fair-trade coffee and olive oil, crafted hot sauces, a bakery, espressos and sandwiches and new this year – a Korean deli and a food truck!

This heart-warming event is more fun with friends and family so bring them along to the 16th annual Christmas in Tin Town Open House and Sale, Saturday Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please respect resident parking and watch for pedestrians. There is overflow parking on Cousins Avenue. Venue maps will be available on site.
