The Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association (DCBIA) board of directors has bid farewell to former executive director Tracey Clarke, and is welcoming its new executive director, Greg Chadwick.

Chadwick and his wife Melanie own Graham’s Jewellers on 5th Street and Revelry Photo Booth, and are incredibly proud parents of their four children. Greg grew up in the Comox Valley and is an active volunteer in the Rotary Club of Comox Valley.

“I’m excited to take on this new position and help downtown Courtenay businesses thrive,” said Chadwick. “The beauty and experience of this place is hard to replicate. It’s wonderful to see the spectacular restaurants, cafes and boutique shops intertwined with arts, culture and history. I have watched the space evolve and I look forward to helping guide future growth in our amazing downtown core.”

The change took place last month after a few years of employee turnover in the position. Thanks in part to the efforts on the part of Clarke, the role’s conditions are now set to improve. Clarke represented the DCBIA during the 5th Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project, as well as a bylaw review project that brought the organization’s budget on par with current cost-of-living standards. She has now moved on to a new position as executive director of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“It was a pleasure working with Tracey for the entirety of her tenure as Executive Director at the DCBIA,” said Jorden Marshall, DCBIA board president. “She consistently proved herself to be hard-working, collaborative, and passionate about representing the varied needs of DCBIA members and the broader community. We wish her all the best at the chamber.”

Originally founded in 1995, the DCBIA’s goal is to provide support for Downtown Courtenay Businesses and enhance a vibrant business community through leadership and advocacy. For more information, visit downtowncourtenay.com or email info@downtowncourtenay.com.
