Tom Dishlevoy to speak at Chamber lunch

the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts a networking lunch Thursday

If the thought of attending a networking event makes your palms sweat and blood pressure rise, then consider signing up for a special Networking Lunch hosted Thursday by the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The 90-minute session will teach how to conquer fear and offer strategies for successful networking. Guest speaker is architect Tom Dishlevoy.

“Considering success in my chosen profession is dependent on knowing — and being known by — lots of people, meeting new people, and developing a large and functional network, was not always one of my strengths,” Dishlevoy said.

That changed when he attended a presentation by Darcy Rezac, managing director of the Vancouver Board and Trade and author of Work the Pond.

"My presentation will focus on building confidence in networking situations and Using the Power of Positive Networking to Leap Forward in Work and Life,” said Dishlevoy, who previously gave a series of presentations on networking when he was a Chamber director.

“I know from experience that this will be a fun event that will help all attendees develop new and effective networking skills – regardless of whether they love or loath networking,” Chamber president and CEO Dianne Hawkins said.

The luncheon is from 11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Best Western Westerly Hotel. Tickets are $24 plus HST. Pre-registration is required and seating is limited. For more information call 250-334-3234 or visit www.comoxvalleychamber.com.

There will be a draw for two tickets to attend the Comox Valley/Campbell River Benefit at Crown Isle June 11. The guest speaker is Kevin O’Leary of the Dragon’s Den.
