Glacier View Secondary School held its 2018 graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 21.
Twenty-three graduates walked the stage to collect their diplomas.
Alongside diplomas, 23 bursaries were handed out to the students at a value of $19,100 — a school record, according to principal Murray McRae.
The ceremony began with a greeting by Fernanda Pare from the K’omoks First Nation, a slideshow featuring photos of the graduates from their childhood, and the singing of O Canada by Madisen Findlay.
Following that, Melody Uddenberg and Tamara Webster co-presented the valedictorian address, before Findlay returned to the stage for a rendition of Ed Sheeran’s Photograph.
McRae then gave his principal’s address to the students, which focused on the importance of being willing to make mistakes, and in turn, learning from them.
A reception was held following the bursary and diploma presentations.
