After 20 years of providing literacy support through free one-to-one tutoring, the Adult Learning Centre is marking its 20th anniversary by inviting past learners, tutors, staff and volunteers to an open house.
The purpose of this event is to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of volunteers and community members who have helped adult learners in the Comox Valley to improve their lives by teaching them to read, to write and to learn basic skills in math and computer.
The goal is to profile the work we are doing to support adult learners and with immigrants new to the English language.
The open house this Thursday will last from 3 to 6 p.m. at 1507A and B McPhee Ave. in Courtenay. Come and share memories with old friends, enjoy the music of Rachel Fuller (new ESL co-ordinator), watch a slide show created by Terry Avery, enjoy the anniversary cake, speak with staff about new programs and be a part of the first event to take place in our expanded facility.
Everyone is welcome, so bring the kids. Please RSVP to admin@cvalc.ca or 250-338-9906.
