VIDEO: Annual Inquiry Fair showcases creative student projects

Projects on everything from beauty trends to mosquitoes to dwarf planets are on display at the fourth annual SD71 Inquiry Fair.

Held at Lake Trail Middle School May 1 and 2, nearly 600 students from 12 different schools will present their projects over the two days of the fair.

The first day kicked off with a welcome by the school district’s elder in residence and a performance of the Comox Valley Schools song, Am’lala sa Kumuxse, sung by Queneesh Elementary students. The Metis Jigging Group also performed a dance.

The rest of the gym was filled with colourful cardboard trifolds packed full of interesting info on a large variety of topics.

The event will be back on Thursday and parents are invited to come in and see what the kids have been working on. Opening ceremonies on Thursday begin at 9:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. with new presentations in the morning and afternoon. The fair concludes at 2:15 p.m.
