Book sale continues

The Courtenay Rotary Club’s “Books For the Cure” Book Sale in Comox Centre Mall continues Friday (Nov. 9) and Saturday.

The Courtenay Rotary Club’s “Books For the Cure” Book Sale in Comox Centre Mall continues Friday (Nov. 9) and Saturday.

All proceeds go towards cancer care and other community projects. This is your opportunity to stock up on your favourite authors for a winter of reading joy.

Softcover books sell for $1 each and hard covers go for $3 each. Kids' books, CDs, VHS and DVD movies and records are also available.

With over 50,000 books donated the shelves will be kept full to the end of the sale on Saturday.

“People are coming back day after day and finding what they want because we are constantly restocking the tables,” says Liam Stackwood, Books for the Cure spokesperson. “Books keep coming in and we keep adding them to the inventory daily,” added Liam.

Saturday the cost of books drops to “Five Bucks A Bag” (bags supplied by the Courtenay Rotary Club).

“We don’t want to store unsold books until next year’s sale, we want them all sold,” says Pat Dixon, Rotary volunteer. “The sale ends Saturday at 5:30 p.m., so get in early for the best selection of your favourite authors,” added Dixon.

You can drop off your used books year round in the bright blue Rotary dropboxes conveniently located in retail stores throughout the Comox Valley.

“Once you’ve read the books you bought at the sale this year I encourage you to donate them and other books you may have,” says Courtenay Rotary Club president Rod Hunter. “Without your donations this event would not be possible, and for that I thank you on behalf of the Courtenay Rotary Club,” Rod added.
