Celebrate Fathers Day at annual kite fly

Father's Day kite fly

Continue your Father’s Day tradition or create a new one at the Annual Father’s Day Kite Fly. Every year hundreds of kites take to the skies at the Goose Spit in Comox for this popular event.

Dads, moms, kids, the young and the old are encouraged to come and enjoy the kaleidoscope of colors and shapes as kites of all kinds take to the sky.

Courtenay Recreation, Whales Tale Toys, and the Father Involvement Network have co-sponsored this family event so that registration remains free to everyone. Ribbons and prizes are awarded in such categories as Peoples’ Choice, Stunt Kites, Favorite Father’s Day Kite, Amazing Home-made, Family Entry, Oldest Pilot, Largest Kite, Hard-Luck Flyer and more.

Whether you are there to observe or to participate, emphasis is on fun and family.

The Kite Fly is scheduled for Sunday, June 19 at Goose Spit. Please respect the parking at Goose Spit and take advantage of the free shuttle leaving from Brooklyn Elementary, starting at 11:30 a.m. Registration takes place from 12:00-12:30 p.m. with the flying and judging taking place from 12:30-2:30 p.m. For more information, call Courtenay Recreation’s Lewis Centre at 250-338-5371.
