The Comox Valley Cycling Coalition has identified several biking routes that require infrastructure upgrades for safety reasons. Topping the list is Condensory Road, which needs 1.5 kilometres of shoulder upgrades and paving.
Number two is Knight Road/Lazo Road, which needs 2.6k of shoulder upgrades and paving.
In a Nov. 16 presentation at the Electoral Area Services Committee meeting, coalition member Mike Keohane said Knight is a “notoriously bad” road.
“There were two serious incidents this year.”
According to the coalition, Anderton Road requires 1.4k of shoulder upgrades and paving.
The other identified areas are Union Bay/Buckley Bay, Seal Bay (Bates/Coleman) and Idiens Road.
Area A director Daniel Arbour said the shoulders on Royston Road are not great for cycling. Keohane said the coalition will add the road to its list.
CVRD staff expect to have a draft plan for directors to consider in December or January.
