With more than half of all health-care encounters at the Comox Valley Hospital requiring medical imaging and the vital role these scans play in informing medical care, the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation (CVHF) is raising funds for medical imaging equipment during this giving season.

Enhancements to the medical imaging department at the hospital will offer quicker diagnoses, help physicians develop effective treatment plans, and improve the overall care that patients receive.

CVHF is working with other foundations and corporate funding agencies to further their campaign goals. They hope support from the community can provide what is required to ensure the hospital is equipped with the top-of-line diagnostic technology needed at this time.

Giving Tuesday is on Nov. 28. As a follow-up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this special day dedicated to giving, and countering consumerism, was created in 2012 by a small group of people from the Upper East Side of New York City. The idea was quite simply to encourage people to do good in their community.

Over the past 11 years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

And that is exactly what the CVHF has planned locally throughout the whole week surrounding Giving Tuesday.

Partners helping out

RBC Wealth Management is showing its incredible generosity by matching contributions up to $5,000. Any donation made during the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 3 will have double the impact.

Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa is sponsoring a Giving Tuesday Giveaway. Everyone who donates online or by phone throughout the week will be entered to win a hydropath gift certificate for two people.

In addition to the matching opportunity and fun giveaway, COBS Bread in the Driftwood Mall is donating $2 from every six-pack of fruit mince or butter tarts purchased between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3.

Nearly 100,000 medical imaging procedures are provided by the Comox Valley Hospital’s medical imaging department and the volume is increasing as the local population grows and ages. Coming together in support of the hospital’s equipment needs serves to benefit everyone in the Comox Valley.
