Monday Oct. 15, the Comox Valley Horticultural Society invites you to its end of year presentation on compost and soil amendments.

A variety of experts will present their ideas and products to you face to face, in a mini trade show format. Attendees can roam from table to table and get some priceless advice on this very popular topic. Confirmed to date, Welcome Harvest Farm (organic fertilizers), SpeediBin Composter, The Organic Gardener’s Pantry (Effective Microorganisms and Organic Fertilizers) and The Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) compost education centre.

There will also be a “Compost Potluck” that night. Bring two cups of your finished compost in a container with your name on it. All the compost will be mixed together to maximize the biodiversity of our compost critters, and you return home refilled and ready to recharge the microbiota in your own compost pile. What a treat!

The meeting takes place at the Courtenay Filberg at 411 Anderton Ave. Doors open at 6:30 pm., with one hour to socialize and shop. A quick and simple AGM follows this presentation. Guests are welcomed for $5, but your January to December single membership of $20 ( family $30) brings many benefits. There are still a few gift certificates available for CVHS memberships. What a great Christmas gift idea for your gardening sweetheart. Further details available at www.comoxvalleyhortsociety.ca
