The Comox Valley Lions Club is once again offering a Community Volunteer Income Tax Program to low-income earners in the area.
The service is free to any person who falls within the following annual income guidelines:
Single person - $35,000
Couple - $45,000
One adult w/child - $45,000
Each additional child - $2,500
Interest income less than $1,000
The volunteers have been trained by the CRA to file very basic income tax returns.
The volunteers are not trained to complete complex return for individuals who:
1. report income for self-employment, rental income, capital gains/losses
2. claim employment expenses
3. are deceased or bankrupt.
The service will run every Tuesday throughout the months of March and April, from 1-3:30 p.m. Drop-offs and walk-ins are welcome.
