Karlynn Kinnee says she never wins anything, but her luck changed as her name was drawn for the Record’s shopping spree contest.

On Sept. 1, Kinnee was driven around to 10 stores of her choice where she had 2,018 seconds (34.01 minutes) to spend $2,018.

“Just a fantastic experience, I had so much fun,” she said. “I was incredibly shocked because I never win anything… maybe it’s the universe saying we owe you a little bit.”

On Sept. 1, Kinnee was shuttled around in a bus with Record publisher Keith Currie who announced her presence to other shoppers with a cowbell.

Her 10 stops were Sublime Fashion Collection, Searle’s Shoes, DeVine’s Emporium, Ivory & Grey, Design Therapy, La Cache, Shar-On’s, Canadian Tire, Thrifty Foods and Butcher’s Block.

“It was wonderful because everybody in the stores would be turning around and smiling at me and congratulating me and clapping,” she said, adding that her three-year-old granddaughter came along and had a “hoot.”

Though she purchased mainly gift certificates, she also picked up some blouses, a blazer, towels and a dress for her granddaughter.
