The Spirits of the West Coast Native Art Gallery is once again stepping up to help the Comox Valley Food Bank, and this time, your donation will go twice as far.

The gallery will match all donations, up to $5,000.

Not only that, but anyone who contributes to the food drive will have their name entered into a draw for a $250 gift bag of Northwest Coast Indigenous gifts and jewelry.

“At Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery, we recognize that this is a challenging time of year for many families,” said gallery co-oner Walter Stolting. “This year, the addition of floods, supply chain issues and rising food costs has made access to food that much more challenging. We invite everyone who is able to give generously—the need is great!

“We are reaching out to the community to support our Food Bank Drive & Fundraiser to collect non-perishable foods, essential items, and monetary donations to assist families and children in our community.”

The food drive will run until Dec. 31. residents are invited to either drop by the Spirits of the West Coast Gallery (2926 Back Rd., Courtenay) with their donation, or donate cash directly to the Comox Valley Food bank, via their donation page, at bit.ly/3pS2vXk

When donating online, make sure to mark “Spirits of the West Coast Native Art Gallery” in the message section, in order to be entered into the prize draw.

“We are thankful to the community for the donations thus far, and are looking to make an even bigger and meaningful impact with this year’s Food Bank Drive,” said Stolting.

In addition to supporting your local community, each contributor will be entered into a draw for a Gift Bag valued at over $250.00, made up of Northwest Coast Indigenous gifts and jewellery. We will draw one lucky winner on Friday, December 31st 2021.

Suggested food donations include:

• Dried foods (beans, rice, pasta, and gluten-free items)

• Canned foods (fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, pasta sauces and beans)

• Nutritional snacks for children’s Lunches (sugar-free juices, milk alternatives)

• Toiletries

• Paper products
