Easter morning is a special time at Glacier View Lodge (GVL) thanks to the Shamrock Gumbooters 4H Club (Cumberland) and their animals.

“We are truly grateful to the members and leaders of the club, past and present, for continuing this special tradition. The connection between the old and youth, in combination with the animals, is truly magical,” said Liz Friis, director of resident lifestyle and commmunity programs at GVL.

The 4H Club visits the lodge each month. Together residents and the youth explore topics such as seed planting, composting, and harvesting. A lovely time where residents can share their experiences with young people who are very keen to learn. The supplies for the activities carried by the group were given by the First Credit Union & Insurance Community Investment Fund.

Glacier View Lodge continues on its journey to create a vibrant home for those who live with us and attend our outreach programs.

One of the tenants of the Eden Alternative Philosophy that GVL follows is to create a vibrant living environment by bringing together people of all ages, animals and making access to nature easy.

Glacier View Lodge is looking forward to hosting, along with the CV Senior Support Society, the inaugural walk in the Comox Valley called The Grand Parade. The walk will take place in downtown Courtenay on June 1 and is intended to raise awareness of the needs of seniors, and to raise funds for programs supported by both organizations. Community members of all ages are invited to take part!
