A line-dancing event is open to the public this April, with all proceeds going to charity.

The Line Dance for Charity event is happening on Saturday, April 27 at the Cumberland Cultural Centre. The event will see 100 per cent of proceeds go to the Lush Valley Food Action Society, a non-profit that works for food security in the Comox Valley.

“No line dance experience is necessary. And you don’t need boots,” said organizer Nimisha Jimenez. “Three instructors will lead you through easy-to-learn line dance routines.”

Entry to the event will cost $15 at the door (2674 Dunsmuir Ave., Cumberland) — patrons who register ahead of time will pay $10.

There’s 100 dancing spots in total, and 40 were filled as of April 9. Anyone interested in signing up can contact Nimisha Jimenez at shaktistar@yahoo.com to register or for more information.

“This fundraiser will showcase the different styles of line dance - country, pop, Latin, and swing as well as the different levels, from absolute beginner to intermediate - through social dancing, open dance, and demos,” said Jimenez.

“Having fun while line dancing, I thought of sharing the joy of it with others who are busy with basic everyday needs.”

The Line Dance for Charity event will go three hours, from 1 to 4 p.m.
