With the new season comes a range of new programs at Cumberland Recreation, with activities offered for all ages and stages.

New dance programs include Creative Dance for preschoolers, and Beginner Ballet (6-8 years): enhance self-expression and body-awareness while developing fundamentals of dance.

Expanded after-school programs include parkour, indoor rock climbing, floor hockey, ‘West Coast Monkeys’ and youth open gym at the Cumberland Recreation Institute (CRI), with MTB/BMX camps at the Village Park.

Designed for seniors

Other new and unique programs include Choose to Move and Activage for seniors, a free initiative to ensure that those over 65 are continuously active and in good health. On Nov. 4, get creative while sipping and socializing as you create your own woven wall hanging at the Waverley Hotel.

Fitness options

Cumberland Recreation also offers a full range of fitness classes that include TRX, kettlebell and spin. Moms and toddlers are welcome to the TRX Combo class that includes loads of toddler toys and playground equipment. And the ever-popular indoor climbing wall opens in October for all the Valley climbers.

Cumberland Recreation continues to offer a range of free programs for youth and families supported by local partnerships. Registration for all programs can be completed online at cumberland.ca, by phone at 336-2231 or in person at the Rec Centre.
