After the intense and extremely well attended fall semester, you’d imagine that everyone in the Comox Valley would already know all about the advantages of attending ElderCollege.

If the attendance at the course information forum for the spring sessions, held Saturday, Jan. 13 is any indication, the word is spreading. A number of seniors new to the Comox Valley attended the morning event and their enthusiasm about the aspect of taking the various courses and/or lectures offered by ElderCollege at NIC, starting Feb. 3, was evident.

The possibilities for meeting new people, enjoying stimulating activities and interests such as hiking the many CV trails or learning about local history, as well as the opportunity to perhaps gain a new hobby via class participation, encouraged the newer attendees to get involved.

Those with experience attending ElderCollege suggested to new prospective members that they must be prepared to pick out their courses well in advance of the registration process starting in the last week of January. The courses fill up quickly and the lectures are usually sold out within the first few days of registration.

New students must have a membership to be able to register for courses or lectures.

Membership can be obtained at the same time as you register for any of the events or courses online during the fourth week of January. Go to the ElderCollege webpage http://bit.ly/2qWceQT for information about the various courses/lectures offered in the spring term.
