To celebrate National Philanthropy Day two local organizations, Comox Valley Community Foundation (CVCF) and The Financial & Estate Planning Institute (FEPI), are co-hosting an event on philanthropy and estate planning at the Courtenay Museum from 3-6 p.m. on Nov. 15.

“It’s our second literacy event of the year and we are very proud to co-host with the Comox Valley Community Foundation – an organization with similar values as us,” said FEPI chair, Lyle Carlstrom. “Come join us to ask your questions and connect with local professionals. We promise no jargon and straight talk answers.”

The event is open to anyone looking to learn more about the great work done by local non-profits in the Comox Valley.

The event will feature some of the local non-profits in the community. It is a great place to gather information on community impact organizations. The Financial & Estate Planning Institute will provide an educational overview of philanthropy from a tax, legal and financial planning perspectives from local members of the institute. The literacy event will be followed by the Comox Valley Community Foundation’s distribution of over $300,000 to local non-profits that are beneficiaries of permanently endowed funds held with the Foundation.

“The Foundation has been the philanthropic conduit of choice for many non-profits, individuals and businesses over the past 20 years,” said CVCF executive director, Jody Macdonald. “On National Philanthropy Day we are privileged to witness the impact of philanthropy as we distribute over $300,000 to agencies across the Comox Valley from our nine agency and six designated funds.” These funds create lasting impacts for the community for years to come.

Light refreshments will be served. Attendance is free, but due to limited seating, registration is required. To RSVP for the event go to https://bit.ly/2PMQ3YN
