Fun with nursery rhymes

Subversive Rhymes: Are Nursery Rhymes Just for Kids? Think Again.

Subversive Rhymes: Are Nursery Rhymes Just for Kids? Think Again.

Local writer and humorist Desmond Lindo will lead a discussion on the original meaning and subversive intent of many old English nursery rhymes. And for your amusement, he will also present his own recently updated versions of several of these rhymes written to spoof the 2011 federal election.

Come and join in the fun as he reads from Nuts in May, Nursery Rhymes to Celebrate an Unwanted Election. Other Comox Valley writers will also participate by reading humorous verse.

The reading will take place at the Courtenay Library at 300 Sixth St. on Thursday, April 28 from 2 to 3 p.m. This is a free program, and all are welcome.
