Kevin Taft will talk about the corporate manipulation and political capitulation outlined in his fourth book, Oil’s Deep State, at the Native Sons Hall on Thursday, Sept. 13.

Interested in an insider’s view of how the oil industry persuades politicians, bureaucrats, universities, and journalists to buy into its agenda? Then you don’t want to miss the Kevin Taft Tour as it winds its way through the Lower Mainland to Vancouver Island.

The final stop on the tour is in Courtenay at the Native Sons Hall on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 7-9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30.

“Climate change is the death knell of the fossil fuel industry,” said Taft. “To fight against being phased out, the oil industry has spent millions of dollars to block action and to institute the narrative that what’s good for oil is good for Canada.”

Taft, a member of Alberta’s Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2012 and opposition leader from 2004 to 2008, will talk about the corporate manipulation and political capitulation outlined in his fourth book, Oil’s Deep State. The talk will be followed by a Q&A and a book signing.

The Kevin Taft Tour has been organized by a number of values-aligned organizations and concerned citizens to raise public awareness and to serve as a call to action.

Regarding Oil’s Deep State, David Suzuki says, “Read the book, get mad, then take action to restore democracy.”

The tour, with its focus on Taft’s clarion call at oil’s Wall of Jericho, is a must-attend.
