The four MacKinnon brothers returned triumphantly last week to the Comox Valley after a cross-country cycle to raise funds and awareness for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Exactly two months to the day after they left May 19, they returned to Vancouver Island for the stretch drive back to Comox alongside their family, friends and community.
Although they haven't announced an exact total, they say they met their goal of raising a cumulative total of $40,075.
Their trek included surviving 60 days on the road with no support van, but they kept going, buoyed by the memory of their grandfather known as Baha, the inspiration for their campaign.
Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1967 at the age of 60, he was an Olympian, accomplished lawyer and financial adviser, published author on Parkinson's disease, distinguished board member and UBC Hall of Famer.
