On Friday, Oct. 26, from 4-5 p.m., Fair Vote Comox Valley and community members are meeting at the 17th Street Bridge to wave signs and encourage drivers to honk their horns to show support for provincial electoral reform.

By that date, Elections BC will have begun mailing each provincial registered voter a referendum ballot.

This is the second bridge rally Fair Vote Comox Valley has organized. If the first one was any indication, horn-honking will fill the air as people go about their business in the Valley.

“As our canvassers know, many people in the Valley support moving to an electoral system that reflects the will of the voters, and voting ‘yes’ for proportional representation is a direct path to that goal,” said Pat Carl, of FVCV.

“Come join us at the Bridge Rally and be seen and be heard. We’ll supply the signs, you provide the enthusiasm. Let’s remind those driving home on Friday after a long week at work how important the referendum vote is. Let’s ensure a democratic B.C. that puts people’s concerns first in our legislative assembly.”
