The Rotary Club of Comox Valley is bringing back the fourth edition of the club’s fundraisers that support food security for Comox Valley residents: the Everyone Eats Raffle and ‘Rotary Jingle Ball’ Dinner and Dance.

The Everyone Eats Raffle returns with only 1,000 tickets available. Prizes include thousands of dollars in gift certificates from local food providers, the Comox Valley Farmers’ Market and local restaurants. Proceeds from the raffle will be going to LUSH Valley Food Action Society and the Comox Valley Food Bank. Rotarians are now out in the community selling tickets, which can be also be purchased at Grahams Jewellers on 5th St. Courtenay. The raffle prize draw will be held at the Rotary Jingle Ball.

The Rotary Jingle Ball Dinner and Dance happens Friday, Dec. 8 at Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay. The evening begins with ‘Appy Hour’, including hors d’oeuvres and a chance to play games to win thousands of dollars in prizes. The brand new Social Enterprise from LUSH Valley Food Action Society will cater the event. The plan is for the menu to feature local producers so as to offer a true ‘farm to table’ experience. The catering company puts all proceeds back into LUSH Valley programming.

To cap off the evening, the North Island’s favourite dance band, Time Well Wasted – a 12-piece funk/R&B band – will take the stage. A silent auction, featuring great local experiences, artworks and unique gifts will be featured as well.

Tickets are $100 per person and are now on sale via the club’s website at comoxvalleyrotary.ca

“We launched the Everyone Eats Raffle in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said committee chair Myrna Logan. “We wanted to help support local institutions that are alleviating food insecurity in our community, and offer support to local restaurants and food providers by purchasing the raffle prizes (in the form of gift certificates) from them. Adding the Rotary Jingle Ball Dinner and Dance with our target being to assist in food security for school-aged children really took flight last year.

“We have created a fundraising dinner and dance experience that will be a whole lot of fun while raising funds. Small businesses, friends and everyone is encouraged to use this great event as their Christmas get-together. We take care of everything and attendees can come out and enjoy a great Christmas-themed evening and know all of the money is going to food security for school-aged children in the Valley.”
