Teams of seniors from various Community Living and Complex Care homes came together to compete in the annual Pioneer Olympics.
The teams challenged each other in ring toss, bean bag toss, lifesaver and toothpick, basketball, horse shoes and polo. The competitive edge was intense, the excitement was soaring and the athletes, staff and volunteers had loads of fun.
In the Community Living division, the Comox Valley Seniors Village and Casa Loma — Retirement Concepts Rebels took home the first-place trophy. The Classics from Cumberland ADC and the Campbell River Hopefuls from Ironwood Place tied for second place.
In the Complex Care division, the Campbell River Yucalta Energizers placed first and the Eager Beavers from Olive Devaud in Powell River came in a close second.
The following awards were also presented:
Best Sportsmanship: The Views, St. Joe’s Hospital — The View Eagles;
Best Dressed: Glacier View Lodge — The Toppers;
Most Improved: New Horizons — The Sun Risers;
