Looking for something to do this Family Day? Here are some suggestions:

Courtenay Recreation

Bring the whole family and take part in free activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lewis Centre and the LINC Youth Centre. The Lewis Centre will be offering ping pong, air hockey, foosball, pool tables, concession, outdoor basketball, scootering, karaoke and skateboarding. There will also be an arts and crafts space, a toddler zone and a youth zone.

Families can also explore the 7 Story Circus from noon until 3 p.m. Sign up for the circus begins at 10 a.m. and circus sessions are 50 minutes long.

Comox Community Centre

Stop by the Comox Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lots of free activities.

In the gyms, kids can run through an inflatable obstacle course and try out some arts and crafts. Greg Ladret will be there doing magic from 11 a.m. to noon and there will be a fencing demo at 1 to 2 p.m.

Preschoolers will have an area to play near the squash courts and they will also be open for drop-in squash and racquetball.

CHIMO Gymnastics will also be holding 20 minute try-it sessions all day.

Comox Valley Sports and Aquatic Centre

In partnership with Comox Valley McDonald’s, the Comox Valley Sports and Aquatics Centre is offering free skating from 1 to 3 p.m. and free swimming from 1 to 5 p.m.

Comox Archives and Museum Society

In honour of family day, kids can come learn about their family history at the Comox Archives and Museum. Kids can draw their own family tree and even make their own family shield.

From 1 to 4 p.m., come check out displays, explore the heritage of Comox and chat with museum staff and volunteers.

Mount Washington

Head up the mountain for a day of skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mount Washington is offering 50 per cent off alpine lift tickets and Nordic trail passes.

Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park

Do you know the history of the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park? Come by from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to learn about the community space, listen to live music and watch hands-on demonstrations of spinning from the Denman Island Lace Club. Demonstrations of vintage tools and a display of vintage fashions will also round off the day. And be sure to stop at the gift shop where they are having a sale.
