This year’s conference program promises to stimulate new ideas and introduce valuable techniques for better writing. Workshop topics include: how to write humour, believable crime and murder scenes, animating your characters and writing great dialogue, crafting the prose poem and how to effectively research your novel. Be advised, all workshops will be via Zoom.

Also, the Blue Pencil Café is back! Running from Jan. 8 - 18, there is ample opportunity to book your one-on-one, 45-minute session with editor Trevor McMonagle.

Bonus - there are two free sessions! The first is Opening Night, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m., with the award-winning Syrian-Canadian author, Danny Ramadan. He is the current Haig-Brown writer-in-residence. Read more about Ramadan at crmuseum.ca

The second free session is a ‘fireside chat’ between an author and an illustrator on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 7 p./m.
