Two fabulous shows with three popular guest artists and brilliant dancing from the Tara School of Irish dancing!
Triple the fun for a special celebration, and entertainment that will appeal to everyone.
“Campbell River has a wealth of skilled singers, musicians and entertainers” says Margaret Mullen, dance director for the Tara School of Irish Dancing.
She and her dancers are delighted to have three of the best share the stage with them for Ceiliúir (Kaylur – gaelic for celebrate) at the Tidemark Theatre, May 28-29. Ceiliúir will be a brilliant celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Tara School of Irish Dancing in Campbell River. Featuring the best of the past 10 years and starring professional Irish and Celtic guest entertainers, Ceiliúir will be a fabulous production of Irish dancing, music and storytelling.
Produced by Mullen, the show will feature favourites from earlier productions as well as exciting new choreographies. Mullen has been recognized several times by The Irish Dancing Commission, most recently at the World Championships held in Montreal in 2015, where she was recognized as a “Legend of Irish Dancing in Canada”.
Popular Irish entertainer, John Reynolds will entertain at the Saturday night show, May 28. Reynolds has appeared in several Tara Dancers Performance Association productions over the years, always to great acclaim … his humour, storytelling, and musical talents bringing an authentic Irish flavour to the production.
Celtic singer/songwriter Doug Folkins will appear at the Sunday matinée, May 29, bringing his lively Celtic music and singing to the stage. Folkins delighted audiences last year when he joined the dancers on stage for a special choreography danced to his rendition of “I’ll Tell me Ma”, and we can expect more fun and lively collaborations this year.
Renowned musician Dougie Hunter, who recently relocated from Scotland to Campbell River, will be joining the dancers on stage for two favourite segments from the past decade: “The Dance Masters” and “Brennan’s Barn”. Glorious music and spirited dancing are sure to get toes tapping and hands clapping in the audience!
“It’s exciting and a privilege to have a musician of Hunter’s calibre play for our dancers,” said Mullen.
Following the Sunday matinée, the audience is invited to join the dancers and guest artists in the theatre lobby for a 10th anniversary celebration including cake, refreshments, “meet the stars” and perhaps a little ceili dancing! A truly joyous celebration.
