Comox Valley dancers compete at championship

Seven dancers from Brigadoon Dance Academy competed at the Fraser Valley open championships recently.

Cameron Kearns won two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze in her four events at the Chief Sepass Theatre in Fort Langley.

Cameron is 11 years old from the Comox Valley. Kearns is the new 2012 Fraser Valley open champion. This is the first championships she has ever won.

Rachel Bramley, 14, from Nanaimo won two Bronze medals and a fourth place in the championship in her four events. She was third runner-up.

Jillian Peacock, 16, from the Comox Valley, won a Silver Medal, a Bronze Medal and two fifth places. She was also third runner-up.

Twenty-year-old professional Samantha Beach from Nanaimo won four Bronze Medals and she was second runner-up in the adult championship.

A great effort was also made by Zoya Lehrke, Anissa Jahromi and Paris Johnson.

Shawndelle LaChance and Sierra Gaskill competed in the non-championship events that day as well, bringing home many medals in their intermediate classes.

All dancers train with Diena Henry at Brigadoon Dance Academy in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley.

The judges were Anne Donlan (New York), Pat McMaster (Niagra-on-the-Lake) and Erin Welk (Calgary).
