Bumbleberry Jam will be featured as the guest artists at the monthly Cumberland Coffeehouse this Sunday, Jan. 9.
Bumbleberry Jam is a band which has developed from weekly jam sessions over a number of years. This group of local musicians are all involved with other musical endeavours in the community.
Members include Myrna Boorman, keyboard and vocals; Derek Lutey, bass, trumpet, guitar and vocals; Gord Yarrow, lead guitar; and John Thorington, guitar and vocals.
Like the band’s name, the music is a pot full of different flavours — swing, blues, jazz, country, and rock. The mixture of sounds that each individual brings ensures an evening of “homegrown” easy listening that will make you grin and tap your feet. You will hear songs by the Eagles, Big Bill Broonzy, the Gershwins and Tony Bennett, to name a few.
The coffeehouse takes place at Cumberland United Church (corner of First and Penrith). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The Open Stage segment of the coffeehouse runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
All performers are welcome; come early to be assured of stage time. Bumbleberry Jam will begin their set after the open stage.
Admission is $4. Refreshments are available.
