Music school bursting with sounds

A local music school is bursting with sound this week as students make final touches to their own compositions

A local music school is bursting with sound this week as students make final touches to their own compositions, as well as prepare a variety of classical, blues, jazz and popular tunes to share.

The Motif student recital happens this Saturday at the Stan Hagen Theatre at North Island College's Courtenay campus.

Admission is free and the community is invited to take in performances between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. The audience can look forward to hearing solo piano, guitar, clarinet and saxophone, instrumental duos and trios, two piano sonatinas and a special mid-afternoon recital featuring students who have written their own songs.

Students range in ages and ability from the tiniest beginners to some very capable, but slightly nervous, adults. The audience will appreciate the diverse range in repertoire and enjoy the variety of different instruments throughout the afternoon.
