TheatreWorks is proud to present its three-women show Reflections Nov. 7 and 8 at the Merville Hall.

This original work will be the theatre company’s entry into Qualicum’s One Act Festival hosted by Echo Players Nov. 7 to 10.

Artistic Director Kymme Patrick has written a funny, sometimes poignant, always captivating play featuring three strong women actors in memorable roles.

Patrick takes on the character Elly, an off-beat yoga instructor who hasn’t attended much live theatre before. Ruthie Tilston, playing Marion, is struggling with empty nest syndrome and her overwhelming sense of loneliness.

Fiona, played by Lynn Hodge, is an aging somewhat successful actress who arranges for the three of them to enjoy an evening out at the theatre watching, The Glass Menagerie.

Theatre audiences will be treated to having snippets of Tennessee Williams’ classic play while the antics of the uninitiated Elly begin to annoy Marion and Fiona. As the play continues, we learn more about these women and their lives; we see ourselves or our friends reflected by these characters as they reflect on their lives.

Patrick, with the writing assistance of Tilston and Hodge, has crafted a delightful one-act play that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. TheatreWorks is ably assisted by Ross Stephenson (lighting), Terry Penney (sound), and Emily Macham (stage managing).

Tickets for Reflections are $10 and available at Blue Heron Book Store (Comox), Benjamin Moore Paints (5th Street Courtenay), or Alley Cats (Cumberland). There will also be tickets at the door for the two 7:30 p.m.shows at the Merville Hall (the big yellow one on the Old Island Highway) Nov. 7 and Nov. 8.
