Rhythm on the Rock returns

The second annual Rhythm on the Rock Music Festival (ROTR) is being held Sept. 8 and 9 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds in Courtenay.

Rhythm on the Rock is the passion project of producer Jessie Lightburn. The festival exists as a way to showcase and highlight up-and-coming local musical talent while promoting the best of the West Coast.

Musicians booked so far include: Maurice, Shane Philip, 50th Parallel, DNA6, David Morin, Ari Neufield, Annie Becker, Mindil Beach Markets, Terrel Safadi, DJ Souls, MC Unite, the Wilderness Crew, Emily Spiller, DJ Skian, DJ Em.Ash, the Naked DJs, Mr Mac Himself, Solomon Potashnick, Kyle Waddington, Cruel Young Heart, Carter Rollins, Banana Fish Dance Orchestra, Back Eddie and the Procrastinators and Magnum.

In addition to supporting up-and-coming talent, ROTR will have a craft and artisans market, healing arts area, kids zone, many cultural food options and many workshops by local organizations and businesses.

Four after-parties will be held Sept. 8 at the Bridge Lounge, Avalanche, Mex Pub and Joe’s Garage.
